You need to be running an MQTT broker on your network to connect Sofar2mqtt to your automation system. Mosquitto is the most common. But you can very easily set up your own MQTT broker and much more. This is unique to Sofar2mqtt as passive mode does not natively provide this function in the inverter.
Also highly recommended is to use Node-Red to format the output of your inverter before passing the data to your automation system. You can import this to Node-Red and it provides a single node called "Format Sofar2mqtt".
Connect it to the MQTT input of your Sofar2mqtt unit and send the output to your home automation system. The images show that I use Open Energy Monitor. Connect the Sofar2mqtt unit to a 5v micro USB power supply.
Nothing on the OLED screen? No communication with the inverter? Make sure the slave IDs match. Sofar2mqtt assumes slave ID 1 by default.
You can change this around line 93 or in the inverter user interface. But they must be the same. Line 2 also has a dot that slowly flashes, once every few seconds. This is when a heartbeat message is being sent to the inverter.
This could be caused by a loose or bad RS wire or by unsupported features. A few of these is normal, a lot could indicate a problem. This could be caused by disconnected or reversed RS wires. During start-up, line 4 shows the Sofar2mqtt software version. Remote Control System capabilities may be expanded with optional remote control interfaces, such as automatically controlling offsite wells, tanks, gates, chlorine dosers, variable frequency drives VFDs , and more, with optional remote control interfaces such as the Tank and Well Control Package, Digital Interconnect, and Analog Interconnect.
The MyDro supports multiple modules simultaneously. You will receive experienced technical support, including access to the people that built the system if needed. This includes comprehensive training, regular webinars, live support during business hours and after-hours support that is always available on a responsive callback basis for emergencies—at no extra charge.
View the comparison chart here. If the instrument starts its reply before the switch-off then the start of the reply will be missed. Instrument manufacturers are forced to find their own solutions to this problem.
This may include special software, special hardware or both. These units always include a microprocessor and this can perform the task of controlling the RS driver very well. An example type that we use is Moxa This unit automatically switches off the driver when there is no more data to send. Such a unit can work with general purpose software such as ComDebug or HyperTerminal.
Be aware though that it may not work with the special software supplied by instrument manufacturers which may assume a particular RS to-RS converter and may produce errors when used with any other unit. When a signal is sent down a cable there is always a reflection voltage which returns up the cable.
This reflection is bigger as signals' edges get faster and lines get longer. It can be minimised by terminating the ends of the line with the characteristic impedance of the system.
This is ohm for RS Ideally an RS system consists of a single linear cable no branches with ohm resistors connected across the 2 wires at each end of the cable. RS can handle speeds of over 10 Mbits per second and line lengths of over 1 km. If you are operating anywhere near these values you must arrange your wiring close to the ideal.
For many applications where baud rates are slow say baud , and lines are only tens of meters long, this is not essential. A display confirmed every command and told you what the system was doing. MCP could be used in every connected room.
Terminal , which controlled the mostimportant functions, could also be used everywhere, but it didn't have a display. And finally, the most necessary functions could be controlled right from the Master Control Link itself. You could turn the speakers on or off. And you could turn off the complete music system. Beocenter and also gave you three remote control choices: Master Control Panel with display, Beocenter Terminal and the Master Control Link itself. The various Panels and Terminals could be used in the rooms where you found it most practical and the Link could either be mounted on a wall or you could have it standing on a desk or table, for example.
The small relay unit was more or less the heart of it all.
